(Skeet Doubles: Continued from page 7) · target rather than looking to the opposite side of the gun. First, find the second target with the eyes, THEN move the gun to the bird. · Head on the gun. The primary reason the second target in doubles is missed is due to head lifting. Practice moving your eyes independent of the gun and work on staying in the gun through the second shot. To shoot doubles well, it is essential to practice doubles (sounds simple enough, but I am amazed by how little most people practice doubles). If you are serious about competing, I would recommend shooting two rounds of doubles from 3, 4 and 5 at the end of your regular 100 target (or more) practice session. Doubles practice at this time will best simulate registered shoot conditions since you will likely be a little tired from the regular practice, much like in a tournament shoot after already shooting a couple events.
